ENGINEERING

For more than 55 years, the Transportation Improvement Association (TIA) has helped develop safety improvement projects after analyzing crash data. These individual changes over time have contributed to a dramatic reduction of traffic fatalities and severe crashes in member communities. To provide technical expertise in helping to identify locations and develop these projects, TIA has a licensed and insured professional traffic engineer (P.E.) on staff.

For 25 years, TIA has been active with ITS technologies, and during various time periods, has participated as a Board member of ITS Michigan and executive director of this statewide organization. With the positive safety impact of the Road Commission for Oakland County’s (RCOC) FAST-TRAC traffic signal system, and working on education projects with MDOT and the automotive companies, TIA feels strongly that technology plays a significant role in reducing traffic deaths and injuries, now and into the future.
